Bluey Coins Are Back

The Royal Australian Mint has released a new Bluey coin collection in partnership with BBC Studios and Australia Post — five $2 coin designs across circulating, privy mark, and proof formats.

Bluey returns to Australian coinage in 2026 with a collection spanning five episode-themed designs: Rain, Sleepytime, Camping, Baby Race, and Granny Mobile. Produced by the Royal Australian Mint in partnership with BBC Studios and Australia Post, the collection includes circulating till coins, privy mark collector coins, and coloured proof issues in aluminium bronze and silver.

For $2 collectors, this release adds five new designs to the series — and introduces two coloured till coins available exclusively through participating Australia Post stores.

The Collection

Collection Folder and Five-Coin Set

The collection folder features five $2 coins representing the five episode designs, with two empty spaces to fill from coins found in change. Each folder carries a one-in-ten chance of containing the special-coloured coin — making the folder itself a collector's item worth holding on to.

Two $2 Coloured Till Coins

Two special coloured $2 coins are entering circulation exclusively through participating Australia Post stores. As with previous coloured till coin releases, these will be the harder of the formats to find in high-condition — the colour is vulnerable to wear from everyday commerce, so examples pulled fresh from the till are worth capsulating immediately.

Privy Mark Coins

All five episode designs are available with a special privy mark — a small distinguishing feature that sets them apart from the standard circulating issue. Privy mark coins are a collector format, not intended for circulation, and typically hold their condition well when stored correctly.

Coloured Proof Coins

Coloured proof issues in aluminium bronze and silver feature Bluey, Bingo, Chilli, and Bandit across a series of family scenes. Proof coins are struck to the highest mint standard — mirror fields, frosted relief — and are issued exclusively as collector pieces.

A Note for $2 Collectors

Coloured $2 till coins follow the same pattern as previous releases in this format — they enter general circulation, which means condition deteriorates quickly. The colour on aluminium bronze is a surface treatment, not integral to the coin, and friction in pockets and registers removes it progressively. If you find one in change, capsulating it immediately is the right call.

For collectors assembling a complete coloured $2 series, these Bluey coins add two new till designs and five privy mark designs — a significant addition to a denomination that has become one of the most actively collected in the decimal series.
